The Magic Flute is ending!

Papagena and Papageno

February is nearing a close and so is Magic Flute.  I have had the most wonderful time playing Papagena and am going to miss her after the last show today.  It has been marvelous playing opposite Christopher Maltman and along side Kate Royal, Joseph Kaiser and Franz-Josef Selig to name a few.

The show has had its ups and downs, starting with the beloved Sir Colin Davis being ill for one of the shows, then to return and fall whilst mounting the podium.  It was a tense moment backstage as we feared the worse for him, but we were quickly informed he was fine and that David Syrus would conduct.  Along with this our Tamino was down with a cold but was replaced by Lothar Odinius, who did a tremendous job at such short notice.   Sadly we then lost our super Queen of the Night, Jessica Pratt.  She unfortunately had a back problem that flared up and she wont be able to return for our last show.

So as you can see with any run there are always lots of changes, and we have managed to keep the show on the road.  As always we have had lots of different reviews and I have added some of them for you to browse through.  I think the show definitely settled in the middle of the run and has grown from there so we are going to have a great one today.

I will be back with more in March when I start covering Marzelline in Fidelio and will keep you posted on my progress, for now I am off for a week of rest and relaxation.
